A Kansas City, Missouri jury awarded an injured railroad worker $1.3 million yesterday for damages arising from a near collision between a bus transporting workers and an ambulance responding to a call.  The plaintiff was a locomotive engineer for Amtrak and sustained injuries to his neck as a result of the incident.  HGSS partner Steve Groves was lead trial counsel for the plaintiff, who was hurt while “deadheading” or being transported by the railroad’s contractor at the time of the incident.  Deadheading incidents raise a number of particular and sometimes complicated legal issues for railroad workers.  For additional information about deadheading injuries or this case, please contact Steve at sgroves@allfela.com or 1-877-ALL-FELA.
