2013 was another banner year for both the firm and the individual attorneys at Holland Groves Schneller & Stolze, LLC. Firm members received a variety of awards and honors including SuperLawyers®, Best Lawyers in America®, Martindale AV Preeminent®, and Top 100 Trial Lawyers®. The firm was also recognized as Missouri’s Maritime Law Firm of the Year.
During 2013, Eric Holland received several appointments from federal judges in Missouri, Illinois and New York to leadership positions in multi-district complex litigations. He and the firm’s work was also applauded by a judge presiding over one of the firm’s cases: “The Court further finds, based on the appearance of Class Counsel at hearings and filing of pleadings in the case, that Class Counsel’s prosecution and handling of this complex class action has been exemplary. Attorney Holland, who personally appeared at all substantive hearings, demonstrated a command of complex litigation that resulted in the rare opportunity for complete relief for class members. The Court commends Holland and his firm, Holland Groves Schneller & Stolze for their prosecution of this action.”
Also in 2013, Steve Groves served as the Chair of the Railroad Section of the American Association for Justice (AAJ). Groves led the AAJ Railroad Section’s annual program in San Francisco which featured a variety of nationally recognized railroad attorneys and jury consultant David Ball. Groves also published an article on federal preemption in railroad cases.
The firm also successfully resolved a number of high profile cases in 2013 including FELA, product liability, mass tort and class action matters. In FELA cases, the firm successfully resolved a triple amputation case and is defending on appeal jury verdicts of $1.6 and $1.2 million. The firm also resolved a multi-million dollar wrongful death case. 2013 also brought the resolutions of a number of class actions ranging in value from $20 million to hundreds of millions of dollars of relief to class members in financial, banking and insurance matters.
