The Toxic Water Claims

For over thirty years, from 1953 to 1987, the drinking water at Camp Lejeune was contaminated by dangerous chemicals linked to: Adult leukemia, Aplastic anemia and other myelodysplatic syndromes, Bladder cancer, Kidney cancer, Liver cancer, Multiple myeloma, Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma (NHL), Parkinson’s disease, Scleroderma, Kidney disease, Major cardiac birth defects, and other illnesses. Thousands of veterans, service members, non-military workers, and their families used and consumed the water unknowingly resulting in these life-changing health conditions.

Many of our clients are Camp Lejeune veterans and their families who were exposed to contamination at the base. Over the years, those Camp Lejeune veterans who were exposed face a higher risk of certain diseases including leukemias, cancers, lymphomas, and many other serious health problems. If you or a loved one was stationed at Camp Lejeune between 1953 and 1987 and you have been diagnosed with a serious disease, we can help. We are experienced in toxic water litigation and in representing and helping veterans with their claims.

FAQs

Camp Lejeune is a U.S. Military training facility located on the Atlantic Ocean with more than 14 miles of beaches making the base a major area for amphibious assault training, and its location between two deep-water ports allows for fast deployments. The United States Marine Corps base has housed and employed millions of people at this 246 square mile base throughout its storied history.

The Camp Lejeune Justice Act allows veterans, family members, civilian contractors, workers, and others harmed by the toxic water that supplied the base for decades to pursue compensation. In addition, the descendants of the impacted person may be eligible for a claim if the affected person has already passed away.

The Camp Lejeune Justice Act of 2022, passed by Congress in Washington D.C., will allow servicemen and women, civilian workers, contractors, and family members exposed to toxic chemicals in their water at Camp Lejeune to file claims. The bill is part of the Honoring Our Pact Act 2022 and, on July 13, 2022, was passed by the U.S. House of Representatives. It was ultimately passed by the Senate on August 2, 2022, and signed by the President on August 10, 2022.  Previous claims for injuries and death from toxic water at Camp Lejeune have been delayed or outright denied and the new law will help the hundreds of thousands of veterans, family members and others exposed finally receive medical treatment and compensation for their illnesses. It may also help survivor’s benefits for family members who lost loved ones due to exposure to toxic chemicals from Camp Lejeune’s drinking water supply or groundwater contamination.
